Rescheduling of Wood Heat 2020 due to the Covid-19 crisis
As I’m sure you will be aware, the UK Government yesterday updated its guidance around COVID-19, coronavirus. This included new provisions around public gatherings, which the Government is now stating should be avoided, and stopping any unnecessary travel.
As organisers of the Wood Heat Conference, we take our duty of care incredibly seriously, and ensuring the conference is a safe experience is a primary concern. Our top priority is the health and wellbeing of our Wood Heat community including members, staff, stakeholders and their families. We wish to extend our best wishes to all those personally affected by the Coronavirus.
Following conversations with a number of speakers and delegates to Wood Heat 2020, the WHA, UKPC and REA have taken the decision to reschedule the Wood Heat 2020 Conference. We have already managed to confirm new dates for the conference which will now take place, at the same venue in Birmingham, on the 6th – 7th October 2020. We hope bioenergy professionals from the UK and beyond will be able to join us then.
This later date will also hopefully mean we are able to include the much anticipated Government Future Heat Decarbonisation Road Map, allowing members to hear from experts, as well as discuss the implications of the plans.
These are exceptional times for all of us, whichever country we’re in, but we believe that we have the ability to manage any potential disruption and we will do all we can to ensure we run a successful conference come the Autumn.
